The Seven Years' War was a conflict that was fought in Europe, North America, and many more places in the world; it lasted from 1756 to 1763.  At the start the power of Prussia grew enormously under the leader of Frederick II.  To fight this power Austria, France, Russia, Sweden, and Saxony formed an alliance.  Since the British were already fighting the French in North america and India, they decided to team up with Prussia.  Most of the land battles happened to be fought in Europe, east of the Rhine River, while naval battles happened all over the world.  The war was started by the French and the British in North America and India, who were struggling to gain colonial supremacy over each other.  In August 1756 the invasion that would officially start the war was the Invasion of Saxony. This would provide Frederick II with Saxony by the end of October.  While in India, the British struggled against the Nawab of Bengal.

By the time 1757 rolled around France invaded Hanover  while Prussia invaded Bohemia and put Praque under siege. Prussia soon lost to the Austrian army at Kolin, causing them to retreat.  Afterwards more losses continued for Frederick II, he was invaded in Saxony and Russia's army started to advance into East Prussia defeating Gross-Jägersdorf, a Prussian commander.  Frederick was able to turn around all of these losses by creating victories at Rossbach and Leuthen.  At the end of the year Frederick had his enemies retreating from him. The Fighting in India resulted in a victory for Britain with the capture of Bengal.

At the beginning of 1758 a counter-offensive in West Germany was launched and they gained back Hanover,  causingthe French to retreat back past the Rhine.  Later Frederick would fail at conquering Moravia, where he fought against the Russians in the Battle of Zorndorf.  The British started to help out by giving more reinforcements to Prussia.  This allowed Prussia to hold back all of the armies until winter.

1759 was one of Prussia's worst years during the war. Their army was truly struggling due to its position with France located in West Germany. Frederick also had to deal with Austrians invading Lusatia, Russia in Brandenburg and Silesia, and the small Swedish force in Pomerania.  This allowed most of Frederick's enemies to get closer to Prussia.

In 1760 Frederick was being attacked by the Austro-Russians at Liegnitz, Berlin, and Torgau.  Two of these attacks became victories.  He successfully won at Liegnitz and Torgau, but this cost both armies a tremendous amount of supplies causing them to end operations momentarily.  Frederick was not able to successfully defend Berlin.

In 1761 everyone in Europe had exhausted their supplies except Prussia.  Frederick was able to set up a trench at Bunzelwitz which the Austro-Russians refused to touch. Meanwhile, the French were able to capture Brunswick and Wolfenbüttel from Prussia, ending the year.

When 1762 came the Tzar of Russia died, putting Peter III in charge of the country. He was a huge admirer of Frederick II. Peter III broke Russia's alliance and gave Prussia eighteen thousand troops,  turning the tide of the war.  With this no other country could stand up to Prussia and its allies.

In early 1763 all countries involved in the war signed the Treaty of Paris, officially ending the Seven Years war. This left Prussia still intact and gave Britain a lot of land, causing them to be the current leader in global domination at the time.
